The Wellbeing Adviser supports schools and settings to promote the progress and achievement of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils (GRT).

Support available includes:

  • Staff meetings, INSET, briefings and governor training to raise awareness of Traveller cultures and lifestyles. Opportunities to examine and discuss factors which may affect and impact upon the achievement of GRT pupils in school
  • Support to schools to positively reflect GRT cultures & lifestyles in the curriculum and promote inclusion
  • Guidance on meeting the needs of newly arrived Traveller pupils
  • Support and advice on developing distance learning packages for pupils travelling for extended periods of time. Exploring ICT opportunities to enable school and pupils to exchange work and maintain a continuity of learning.
