Risk assessment

There are a number of different risk assessment forms that you may need to complete for employees of educational establishments;

Trace risk assessment

This may be required when the DBS Certificate contains information – the latest version will be attached to the email sent from the Safe Staffing team when these are required.

Appointing subject to DBS risk assessment

This is required if an employee starts in a role before their DBS Check is back.  Please email the Safe Staffing team for the latest version at: hertsdbs@hertfordshire.gov.uk  

Please also note:  You should always carry out a check of the barred list prior to starting any employee. HCC offer Stand Alone Barred List check functionality within their online DBS portal “HertsGuard”.

Declaration whilst in service

This is required if an employee discloses any new information regarding convictions, reprimands and final warnings, which occur whilst in service.  A risk assessment is required to assess risk until a new DBS can be carried out.  Please bear in mind that it may take a number of months for the new information to appear on a DBS check.  Please refer to the Safe Staffing team for advice.
