CoachMark – Scheme for Sports Coaches in Schools
A scheme has been set up to aid schools when they are recruiting Sports Coaches.
This scheme is called CoachMark. While schools will of course have the choice in which sports coaches to employ, we recommend that schools employ those coaches who meet minimum standards and are registered with CoachMark. CoachMark will be administered by the Herts Sports Partnership and it will apply to coaches who wish to work in schools, whether on a paid or voluntary basis.
The aim of the new CoachMark scheme is to:
To obtain CoachMark clearance, coaches must individually register on the Coaching Herts database and then provide evidence that they meet the minimum standards for deployment. These standards are in line with national guidance from sports coach UK and the national governing bodies for sport.
The standards are:
The Herts Sports Partnership will co-ordinate CoachMark, using their Coaching Herts database and carrying out the relevant checks. Hertfordshire County Council will administer CRB clearances.
Schools wishing to check to see if a coach has registered with CoachMark can do so on the link below:

Once registered on the Coaching Herts database, coaches will need to have the relevant documentation verified to complete the process. CoachMark staff will arrange to meet coaches to carry out the necessary checks.
Further details about CoachMark and minimum standards can be found on the Herts Sports Partnership website:
When completing your Single Central Record, you will now use the HCC & Agency tab to enter anyone individual employed through CoachMark - as HCC will be able to confirm that all pre-employment checks have been satisfactorily completed.
