Safe staffing services

The Safe Staffing Team is part of the Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) Human Resource Team. HCC is licensed by the Home Office Disclosure and Barring Services to carry out DBS checks. The Safe Staffing Team manages and maintains this on behalf of HCC, carrying out DBS checks for all HCC departments and managed schools. In addition, we offer a traded service to external organisations including academies and Early Years settings/PVIs.

We also offer a specialist annual Single Central Record (SCR) Service for approx. 500 Schools and Academies. This includes a specially adapted up to date spreadsheet, detailed guidance, support as well as an annual audit of the spreadsheet (including feedback).

The Safe Staffing team provide specialist advice/guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, DBS eligibility, risk assessments and the process of trace management to HCC departments, HCC managed schools as well as Academies that procure our services.
