New SEND resolution toolkit for education settings - SEND tribunal appeals

Hertfordshire County Council are enhancing the support for education settings during the appeals process by introducing a new guidance document. 

SEND Resolution Toolkit – SEND Tribunal Appeals

The toolkit has been produced in collaboration with education settings and it provides guidance on all types of appeal once an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) has been issued. This includes information about the process of an appeal, timelines, roles of the education setting and local authority, attending appeal hearings and more. To achieve the best outcomes for children and young people, it is crucial we work together to address and resolve issues early. Appeals to the Tribunal should be a last resort for families. 

There are various early interventions available to help prevent escalation to an appeal if a family disagrees with a decision about a child’s support or needs help resolving difficulties.
