VE Day 80 learning resources – Our Shared Story

Last updated on 23 April 2025

Thursday 8 May 2025 marks 80 years since VE (Victory in Europe) Day when the Second World War came to an end in Europe. This was followed later by the surrender of Japan and the end of World War Two on 15 August 1945, known as VJ or Victory over Japan Day.

The 80th anniversary of VE Day is an opportunity to come together to learn about the stories of those that served and the VE Day generation, from the servicemen who fought, to children who were evacuated, and all those who women on the home front.

Our Shared Story is a collection of educational resources to support young people to engage with VE and VJ Day 80th commemorations, both inside and outside the classroom. Visit the VE and VJ Day 80 website for more information and to download the education pack.
