Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Survey
The Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Survey (YPHWS) is open to young people aged 11 to 19 years across Hertfordshire. The survey provides an opportunity for young people to share their views and experiences, helping to shape future services and support for children, young people and families. Please explore the YPHWS dashboard which shows previous data across 5 years from 2020 – 2024.
The survey opens on Monday 9 November 2026 at 9am and closes on Friday 18 December 2026 at midnight.
Why take part?
Secondary schools who submit over 100 surveys will receive an individualised data report on their pupil population.
The survey explores a range of important topics that affect young people's lives, including:
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Healthy eating and physical activity
- Smoking and vaping
- Relationships and sexual health
- Safety and bullying
By taking part, young people help us better understand local needs and ensure services are designed to support them effectively.
Completing the survey
The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and can be accessed using a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. Participants will be asked to select their school or college from a list or identify themselves as home educated or not currently in education.
How the results are used
The findings provide valuable insight into the health and wellbeing of young people across Hertfordshire. The data helps commissioners, schools, colleges and partner organisations to:
- Identify local needs and emerging issues
- Plan and improve services
- Develop targeted support for young people and their families
