Health and Safety team

HCC’s Health and Safety (H&S) team perform the statutory function of the 'competent person' for health and safety across the County Council where it is the employer (this includes VC and Community schools) providing a monitoring and advisory role on health and safety issues and supporting schools in ensuring a proactive, risk based and proportionate approach to health and safety that delivers compliance with the legislation.

We undertake an annual H&S audit programme and provide training via Herts for Learning's CPD training programme for schools.

Core services are provided to all Community and VC schools where HCC retains the role as the duty holder for H&S with a traded service available for additional work and an advisory service for schools where HCC is not the employer.
