Further guidance has been sent out by HFL Education on behalf of Hertfordshire SACRE on Monday 24th July via email to all Hertfordshire Headteachers including FAQs. Please share this with your RE Lead(s).

Some points that may be helpful to schools when implementing the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus:

The first academic year (2023 – 2024) is considered to be an implementation year, to allow for this checking/mapping/aligning to take place, as well as staff development.

However, please note that there is no change in actual content, so you will be able to continue with what you have been teaching in terms of knowledge for RE, providing this met the previous agreed syllabus. Schools will be adapting their planning to incorporate a worldviews enquiry approach as exemplified at the Launch event and the training sessions.

Schools should therefore continue with their existing scheme of work, based on the previous agreed syllabus, as the content remains almost entirely the same, and work to adapt this.

Sample overviews, enquiry questions and model enquiries will be made available (some to be uploaded before the end of the summer term).

The support materials for the previous Syllabi, including the Scheme of Work from 2012 can be used to help with your planning, as the content has not changed from the 2017 syllabus.
