The Association of PE’s (AfPE) Safe Practice: in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) is now available electronically and available to purchase either as part of annual membership or as a single access subscription (£40).

This is the essential reference tool for Heads of Department/Subject leads to get assurance on their practice and provides the framework for risk assessment and management when delivering school sport (both curriculum and extra-curricular).

Schools should ensure that key elements from this are integrated into schemes of work, planning etc. and that staff delivering PE and school sport are familiar with expected practice
