SEND improvement plan - quarterly update - July 2024

Last updated on 18 July 2024

Here is the second of our quarterly updates on progress of the SEND Priority Action and Improvement Plan, outlining our commitment to improve services for children and young people with SEND. Please see the full update attached to this email or read our local offer page, which keeps parents and carers informed about our progress.

Short on time? Here are five key takeaways you should know:

  • We inducted 95 new recruits, who have been trained through our SEND Academy and are now working in services that manage EHCPs.
  • We developed our 'EHCP Good Standards' document, crafted with valuable input from parents/carers and schools, providing clear guidance on the hallmarks of a quality EHCP.
  • We have set-up new quadrant based SEND Provision Panels, increasing from one to eight per month, to improve timeliness and decision making.
  • We appointed four experts, all under 25 and with lived experience, are spearheading co-production and engagement with young people to enhance SEND Services.
  • We created the 'This is Me' tool, designed in collaboration with children and young people, to ensure their voices are at the heart of their EHC Needs Assessment and subsequent reviews.

Our next update will be shared at the end of October.
