SACRE: academies and free schools

Academies and Free Schools must teach RE in accordance with their funding agreement. They must provide RE either using the local agreed syllabus or any other published agreed syllabus from another SACRE, or if they choose, they may develop their own syllabus in line with the requirements of an agreed syllabus conference. Please see the document ‘Religious education (RE) and collective worship in academies and free schools’ from the DfE and the link below from NATRE:

NATRE: Greater clarity for academies in RE

Hertfordshire SACRE is keen to work with all schools and academies in the County so that all pupils can receive a coherent, consistent and quality experience of RE. We hope that all Academies and Free Schools will choose to use the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus, developed by teachers of RE, as the basis for their planning of RE. We also hope that we can develop a close mutually beneficial partnership to improve learning for pupils.
