Safeguarding induction pack for staff
School safeguarding induction materials
'Keeping Children Safe in Education' (DfE) states:
"All staff should be aware of systems within their school or college which support safeguarding, and these should be explained to them as part of staff induction. This should include:
- the child protection policy;
- the behaviour policy;
- the staff behaviour policy (sometimes called a code of conduct);
- the safeguarding response to children who go missing from education; and
- the role of the designated safeguarding lead (including the identity of the designated safeguarding lead and any deputies).
Copies of policies and a copy of Part one of this document should be provided to staff at induction."
The safeguarding induction materials are now available below. These materials have been devised to support that responsibility.
The safeguarding induction should also include sharing of the school's Child Protection Policy, and other safeguarding policies as appropriate, with the new member of staff.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) should record the names of those who have received a safeguarding induction and the date. Staff should sign this record.
