English as an additional language (EAL)

Although published in 2004 by the DfE as part of the Key Stage 3 National Strategy, the document ‘Access and engagement in modern foreign languages: Teaching pupils for whom English is an additional language’ remains a practical guide for teachers supporting the progress in MFL of students learning English as an additional language. Although this guidance was designed for older learners, it may be a useful tool for the primary languages classroom.
