The Contextual Safeguarding Network

The Global Centre for Contextual Safeguarding’s Beyond Referrals website provides tools to help school leaders and designated safeguarding leads assess and strengthen their response to harmful sexual behaviour.

Resources include a self-assessment framework, tailored online reporting, suggested next steps, RSHE lesson ideas and guidance on engaging pupils, parents and wider stakeholders.

The Brook Sexual Behaviours Traffic Light Tool

Brook’s Traffic Lights framework helps trained professionals identify, understand and respond consistently to sexual behaviours in children and young people up to age 18.

The framework categorises behaviours as green, orange or red according to age, development and level of concern. This tool aids staff to distinguish developmentally appropriate behaviour from behaviour that may be problematic or harmful.

The framework complements, rather than replaces, existing safeguarding procedures and is available only to professionals who complete Brook’s training.
