New Safeguarding Spotlight Quiz

Keeping Children Safe in Education, Annex C ( Role and Responsibilities of DSL ):

In addition to the formal training, their knowledge and skills should be refreshed (this might be via e-bulletins, meeting other DSLs, or simply taking time to read and digest safeguarding developments) at regular intervals, as required, and at least annually, to allow them to understand and keep up with any developments relevant to their role.

The CPSLO service has developed a new resource both for DSLs / DDSL and also a for whole school staff. The purpose of these resources are to put a ‘spotlight on any ’ Safeguarding theme, topic or learning that has emerged locally or nationally from research and practice, this may not always be related to KCSiEas it suggests could be an unrelated learning from the forementioned scenarios and that are required to be shared with safeguarding leads and staff who work with children and young people.

• The DSL Safeguarding Spotlight Quiz can be a succinct way to strengthen and build on existing knowledge and skills and provide evidence of continuous professional development.
• The whole school staff Safeguarding Spotlight Quiz can be used by DSLs to similarly support staff to embed within the school’s culture a steady flow of continuous learning throughout the academic year rather than staff may be waiting a year or so to receive updates on safeguarding themes and topics that they need to know about.

Each half term there will be 2 versions uploaded to Schools Sway platform and a link will be placed here on Herts GRID. Please note that there may be additional Safeguarding Spotlight Quiz produced in between the set half term dates these will be based on really important learning from practice reviews or other crucial safeguarding learning that is required to be shared with all safeguarding leads across partner agencies.
