Race equity and anti-racism: curriculum support
It is vital that schools, trusts and settings incorporate curriculum resources which reflect the broad and significant contributions of Black, Asian and global majority ethnic groups.
We suggest schools:
- audit and review their curriculum and resources
- ensure representations are inclusive, ethnically and racially sensitive and appropriate
- make provisions for young people to discuss race and racism and their own experiences. Give young people the opportunity to raise questions, debate and explore a range of perspectives
- improve representation across all subject areas to ensure all young people can see themselves and people from their backgrounds integrated into the curriculum
- increase the number of books written by writers from diverse backgrounds and those with lead characters who are Black, Asian and from global majority ethnic groups.
