Information on how to refer to the Statutory Attendance Support Team

To request a Statutory Investigation please email SAST via eastattendancemanagers@hertfordshire.gov.uk for East area

or westattendancerequest@hertfordshire.gov.uk for West Area outlining the nature of the request and including an attendance register and detailed chronology which gives us an understanding of parental engagement and compliance.

Before any intervention is considered the school must be able to demonstrate that they have explored and implemented appropriate targeted support to remove barriers to attendance (please remember to use SAST checklist and Assess/Plan/Do/Review approach).

If a decision is taken that a Statutory Investigation is not appropriate, then the request will be stepped back to school with clear advice and guidance. You will be asked to implement and/or continue to use the assess/plan/do/review cycle. If a decision is taken that a Statutory Investigation is appropriate, the LAAO assigned will be given clear directions on next steps.
